Ron Harris
Our farrier is Ron Harris from Princess Edward Island, Canada. I had my first horse about 33 years ago and was told by a work colleague that Ron was the best in the game and that I needed to have him as my farrier. At the time, we had no barn and no run in for Ron to work in. This man would trim my horse outside in whatever weather conditions the day brought. Several horses later, Ron is still our farrier. He is never late, and he is kind to all the horses I’ve ever had. He asks for respect when working on them and to be safe. Ron has been dependable, never ever disappointing us. He is the advocate for the underdog horse, the one that needs the extra TLC. He has donated many many hours to a local sanctuary and never asks for payment.
Ron has been in the business about 40 years now and keeps going every day. His passion for taking care of his clients horses is unwavering. At the drop of a hat, he helps any and all horses where others have given up on them. There are just no words to describe how he has taken care of our horses. He is certainly deserving of recognition for the years he has committed to this passion — for all the bruises, cuts, kicks, sore backs… the list is endless. He always laughs, has a great sense of humor and as long as he never gets his blood on his tools he says it’s a good day.
Truly one of the rare breeds as a farrier. We will be forever lost when he retires… as he says that’s never going to happen. We are truly blessed to have him in our barn every few weeks.
