Farriery Novel Up for National Book Award in England

The book was written by a mother of a farriery apprentice
Seventeen years ago, 16-year-old Joe Robinson set off to be an apprentice farrier in England. He would vent his trials and tribulations to his mother, an English teacher at Stonyhurst College. She then did what anyone who had a plethora of humorous stories about farriery would do: She wrote a book.

A cross-sectional study in England examined the accuracy of owners reporting laminitis in their horses and ponies. The objective was to determine the percentage of owner-reported cases of laminitis that were later confirmed by a veterinarian and to compare the owner’s observations of potential risk factors to the veterinarian’s observations.
