FEI Taps AAPF/IAPF As Farriers For 2018 World Equestrian Games
The American and International Associations of Professional Farriers (AAPF/IAPF) will serve as the emergency farrier service providers for the FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) Tryon 2018 at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, N.C.
The American Farrier’s Association Annual Convention, held in early March in Arlington, Texas, was one of the most successful in recent memory with 609 attendees, says outgoing AFA President Jon Johnson.
“It might be our best convention in 10 years,” he says.
Although there’s no doubt that attendees gain a wealth of hoof-care education at the International Hoof-Care Summit, it’s remarkable just how familial the annual winter conference in Cincinnati really is. Aside from the warm greetings and camaraderie that took place throughout the week, family was a prevalent theme in conversations, both public and private.
Watch International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame member Roy Bloom of Drummond, Wis., as he forges the winning shoe during the Vern Hornquist Memorial Class at the 2019 American Farrier’s Association Convention in Tulsa, Okla. Bloom forged a 10 1/4” x 3/8” x 1” shoe from a 4 1/2” x 5” piece of aluminum bar stock. The toe must be 3/16” and the heel must be 1/2”. It also must fit six #4 city head nails.
