It’s hard to find a good buggy whip these days. It has been for quite a while. Times change, people find better ways to get things done, and their tools change with their methods.

 The year - like the last several - has screamed by and it is once again time to start thinking about the Calgary Mail-In Shoe Exercise. This year we have a shoe that is close to a repeat of a previous Mail-In, so I decided to make the shoe using a different method. 

The World Championship Blacksmiths (WCB) rolled into Dillon, Mont., Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, and so did 42 competitors from all over the United States, plus a handful of other countries.

Farriers Dan Yorke, Jim Nelson and Todd Gorton have all long thought it’s important for farriers to improve their forging skills. Last fall, the three friends from New York decided to do something about it.
