Colin Moats
This Farrier Appreciation week, I want to take a moment to recognize my phenomenal friend and farrier, Colin Moats. Not only has Colin helped me with a multitude of veterinary patients, he was also my personal farrier for six years. He literally saved the life of a crippled broodmare I acquired with severe laminitis, pedal osteomyelitis, and white line disease. In fact, not only did he save her life, he got her feeling good enough to start running around the pasture.
Colin is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, yet continually striving to learn more and improve his therapeutic skill set. He’s a wonderful teacher and enjoys collaborating with other professionals, both farriers and veterinarians.
He is patient, kind, and empathetic, both with people and horses, and especially with foals, or horses in pain. He genuinely cares for the horses he works on, as well as his clients, and their budgets. He is always working on ways to create practical and cost-effective solutions that both benefit the horse, and work for its lifestyle and purpose.
Thank you, Colin, for all you do! We appreciate you!
