Horseshoes for Humans
Hayden Bailey — Limb Loss Boss on social media — shoes his prosthetics with horseshoes from Amazon and learns a valuable lesson on traction.
Competition vs. Everyday Farriery
For this horseman, "competition farriery" isn't any different from everyday shoeing for his horses that travel long distances over rough terrain. He's thankful to the World Championship Blacksmith farriers who shod his horses at the Roadrunner Classic.
Lifelong Friends
East Coast Farrier on TikTok has been trimming Apollo for 25 years and often greets him from the pasture. If only all horses were like this.
Gluing Shoes Onto a Giraffe
Bashu, a giraffe at Whipsnade Zoo in the U.K., underwent a "radical hoof trim" with glue-on shoes to treat a recurrent lameness. Farrier Steve Foxworth and three other farriers from the Zoo Hoofstock Trim Program teamed up with six veterinarians, five vet nurses and two anesthesiologists for the 90-minute procedure.
Forging a Lateral Trailer
Butch Whitaker, head instructor at Oregon Farrier School, demonstrates how to forge a lateral trailer, a required shoe for the AFA certification shoe board.
