In a recent Facebook post, Purcell Farrier Supply announced the acquisition of RG Tools. Now under the Purcell umbrella, RG Tools will be manufactured by Mindanao Forge Company (MFC Tools) going forward.

“We’re honored to announce that Purcell Farrier Supply has officially acquired RG Tools, the respected and trusted brand founded by the late Mr. Roger Grant,” the Facebook post says. “The farrier world truly lost a good one, and we are deeply humbled and grateful to have been given the opportunity to continue his legacy.”

RG Tools offers a 6 oz and 9 oz driving hammer, “the Journeyman Hammer.” Purcell says it is taking steps to honor the quality craftsmanship and reliability of the hammer, while enhancing its durability.

“One of the major updates is that each RG Hammer will now be drop forged and individually ground, rather than cast,” says Sylvia Roth, owner of Purcell Farrier Supply and MFC. “This change will significantly increase the strength and longevity of the tools, while maintaining the same design and balance farriers have come to know and trust.”

As Purcell begins production, it will continue to provide updates on availability. In the meantime, pre-orders can be made to [email protected].

“Roger Grant built a reputation for precision and performance, and it’s our priority to maintain the integrity of his designs, while raising the bar for durability,” Roth says.

Purcell Farrier Supply — a Bronze Level Educational Partner of the 2026 International Hoof-Care Summit — is the official owner and vendor of MFC, Jim Keith Tools and now RG Tools.
