Porterville, Calif., farrier Walt Neel passed away Sept. 1, 2022, following a car crash. He was 70.

“Walt was a wonderful, true blue farrier who always gave service beyond expectation,” says Ada Gates-Patton, an International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame member from Monrovia, Calif.

The Western States Farriers Association remembered Neel for his contributions as “a long-time supporter of the association as a member, competitor and former board member.”

A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 17, 2022, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 1013 E. Olive Ave., Porterville, CA 93257.
