In this episode of the American Farriers Journal podcast, brought to you by Life Data Labs, we welcome Southern California shoer Ada Gates.
She’s been on television as an ambassador for the farrier industry, but things weren’t always as breezy for Ada Gates.
For years she worked to learn the trade, but found breaking into it challenging. In 1978, she became the first woman licensed in the United States and Canada for shoeing track Thoroughbreds.
Over the years she built a career that led her to shoeing for international competition and the farrier supply industry.
In this episode, she shares her experiences in the farrier trade.
More information regarding her time shoeing in Panama can be found at https://www.americanfarriers.com/panama.
