Thoro’Bred announced its lineup for its special Veterans Day Extravaganza.

The special clinic — which takes place Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at its headquarters at 5020 E. La Palma, Anaheim, Calif. — pays tribute to United States military veterans “with a day of varied lecture topics, forging classes and a special Thoro’Bred marketplace featuring 20% off for all farriers in attendance.

The clinic will kick off at 7 a.m. with a flag ceremony, followed by a free breakfast and contest set-up. Danville, Calif., farrier Robbie Mederos, who is the forging judge, will conduct a question-and-answer session, as well as a demo for the day’s contest. Attendees can compete in the Speed Class, Vulcan Challenge, Open Forging, Novice Forging and Eagle Eye.

Gene Ovnicek of EDSS will begin the day’s lectures with a presentation on the “Benefits of Leverage Reduction for Sport Horses.” Jay Bell of Badger Built Aprons will discuss self preservation. Tom Curl, a member of the International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame, will discuss quarter crack repair and the research and development of the Kool Heels Shoe. Sam Head of Vulcan Horseshoes will discuss “Dynamic Assessment and Why it is Essential.” Wes Champagne of Blacksmith Buddy will conclude the day’s lectures by discussing “Shoeing the Racehorse for Soundness.”

Attendees will be given a tour of the Thoro’Bred factory.
