Troy Wood continues his run of excellence by winning the World Championship Blacksmiths’ 2026 Roadrunner Classic.

The Riverside, Wash., farrier cemented the title after edging Carl Via of Mineral, Va., and Chris Madrid of Stanley, N.M., in Saturday’s Liberty Live Shoeing. Wood finished with 230 points, while Madrid was runner-up with 222 points. Berry, Ky., farrier Stan Mullen was the judge.

It’s the second consecutive victory for Wood during the 2026 WCB season. The 2025 WCB National Champion won the 2026 season opener at the West Texas Ranch Rodeo Competition in Amarillo, Texas.

Lyle Shepherd of Centerville, Tenn., is the overall Category 3 champion, while Bayly Cogan of White Hall, Md., won Category 2 and Nick Williams of Auburn, Ala., takes home the Category 1 title.

Wood had the best shod foot in Category 4, while Jake Yinquez of Weatherford, Texas, Andrew Corbin of Hebron, Ky., and Clint Micaletti of Johnstown, Colo., won best shod foot in Categories 3, 2 and 1, respectively.

The third competition of the season will be Sept. 30-Oct. 4 at the Virginia State Fair in Doswell. The judge is Adam Fahr of Ward, Ark.
