The 2025 World Championship Blacksmiths (WCB) National Championship was held Dec. 3-6, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. On Dec. 7, the WCB announced Tonasket, Wash., farrier Troy Wood as the national champion on its Facebook page.
The National Championship consisted of 4 categories of shoers, 3 days of match play and 4 classes — a live shoeing class, an individual class and a two-person class as well as a novice class. See the full shoe list here. Judges included Belgian farriers Vincent Lamaille and Jean-Julian Remy.
The best shod foot in Category 1 was by New Mexico farrier Chase Roybal. Colorado farrier Heath Poyner had best shod food in Category 2. Category 3’s best shod food was by California farrier Jonathan Lambert, and Stan Mullen had the best shod food in Category 4.
The top 5 overall standings were Troy Wood with 237 points, Kentucky farrier Stan Mullen in second with 232 points, Texas farrier Matthew Findler in third with 222 points, Texas farrier Sawyer Spradling in fourth with 205 points and Virginia farrier Carl Via in fifth with 201 points. The 2024 National Championship saw Mullen win his second year in a row at 228 points, with Wood one point behind at 227.
The novice class was won by Michigan farrier Heather Kralik with 152 points. The Category 1 winner is Kentucky farrier Andrew Corbin with 163 points. Poyner is the Category 2 champion with 165 points. The Category 3 winner is Texas farrier Levic Rosado with 182 points, and Category 4 is Troy Wood.
