Iowa farrier Lawrence "Larry" T. Scura passed away March 29, 2026. He was 82.

Scura worked for the engineering department at John Deere for 23 years. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elks Foundation, John Deere Collector's Club, Pony Express, Iowa Youth Benefit Saddle Club, Aspire, 4-H, FFA, NRA, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and the Iowa Professional Farriers Association, of which he was an honorary lifetime member. In his free time, he enjoyed rodeos, hunting, fishing and visiting the shooting range.

He is survived by his step-daughter, three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and many family and friends. Read Scura's full obituary here.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park in Waterloo, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Pony Express Association or the Easter Seals.
