Wisconsin farrier John D. Schutte passed away March 16, 2026. He was 82.
Schutte studied to be a farrier at the Minnesota School of Horseshoeing in the early 1970s, returning to Wisconsin to start his business. He and his wife, Mavise, owned many horses and competed in cart races, poles and barrel races at the Ashland County Fair.
He was also an avid hunter, fisher, camper and gardener. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, five grandchildren and many other family and friends.
