Barr Nunn, Wyo., farrier Lt. Col. Jerry Tuttle Carr passed away Jan. 23, 2023, in Casper, Wyo. He was 83.

After graduating from Natrona County High School in 1957, Carr enlisted in the United States Army the following year. He returned to Wyoming to attend Casper College, then enrolled in Officers Candidate School. He achieved the second lieutenant rank in 1965. After serving two tours in Vietnam, he spent two years in Germany.

In 1973, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Before attending Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Carr was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., and Fort Carson, Colo., where he was battery commander for the 5th Battalion, 83rd Artillary of the 4th Infantry Division. He was a highly decorated lieutenant colonel when he retired in 1983 in Fort Irwin, Calif.

Car attended Porterville Horseshoeing and Training School in Porterville, Calif., then returned to Casper, Wyo. He enjoyed breeding mules, cowboying, riding motorcycles, leatherwork, hunting and fishing.

Funeral Services will be Friday, May 12, 2023, at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. The time will be announced.
