Former Wyoming and Pennsylvania farrier Allen Coller passed away July 9, 2021. He was 88.
After attending school in Fort Worth, Texas, to learn blacksmithing and horseshoeing, he had a successful career shoeing horses in Berks County, Pa.
He achieved his life’s dream as a cowboy and farrier on a ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyo. After retiring from horseshoeing, he enjoyed a number of years as owner and chef at the popular restaurant Big Al’s Pizza and Sandwiches in Leesport.
Coller was a man of many talents, including riding horses, cooking, archery hunting, fishing, singing, and telling jokes. He was well-known among his friends for hosting holiday picnics featuring his Coney Island hot dogs. Allen was a movie lover and especially enjoyed Westerns starring John Wayne and epics with Errol Flynn.
