Benson, Ariz., farrier John Briscoe passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was 81.

Raised in the backdrop of a four-generation ranching family, early in life Briscoe felt the call of an evangelist to preach the gospel. After attending seminary in Texas and Missouri, Briscoe ministered throughout the New England states and Florida.

Raising a young family brought him back to New Mexico and Texas where he took on trades of carpentry, farriery and worked as an engineer for the Santa Fe Railway for several years. Continuing to minister the gospel, he took on the pastorate of a thriving church in Clovis, N.M.

Briscoe came to southern Arizona in 1994, conducting guest ministry, then became pastor to a country church in Amado where he met and married his wife Bridget. After resuming a robust farrier business, they eventually settled in Benson where he continued to minister personal evangelism.

Service will be at 10:45 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at East Lawn Palms Mortuary Chapel, 5801 E. Grant Rd., followed by lunch at La Mariposa Resort.
