California racetrack farrier Bernard Fisk passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2019. He was 80.
A native of Solon Township, Mich., Fisk moved to the Sacramento, Calif., area after serving in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He earned his first license and moved to Southern California where he worked the racetrack circuit — Bay Meadows, Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Del Mar, but predominantly Los Alamitos Race Course — for more than 30 years. At the end of his shoeing career, Fisk worked at the Los Alamitos receiving barn as the shoe inspector. In 1997, Fisk returned to Solon Township where he bred American Quarter Horse racehorses.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home in Cedar Springs, Mich. Interment will follow at Solon Cemetery.
