San Diego, Calif. farrier Gale Wallace Siders passed away May 27, 2018. He was 98. 

While Siders was working at the sheriff's department in San Diego, he met a farrier that taught him how to horseshoe. He retired from the sheriff's department and then became a full-time farrier for 65 years. 

During his career, Siders worked with many veterinarians in the San Diego area on lame horses. He also taught others how to ride, train and show horses. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary located at 4300 Imperial Ave.,
