Luna — full name Luna Lovegood — is American Farriers Journal’s 2026 Dog of the Year. Gibsonburg, Ohio, farrier Evan Miller met Luna at a client’s barn when she was 6 months old.
“The owner made his way out, introduced himself and asked if I’d like to take the last of the litter with me,” Miller says. “I said yes. He, possibly not serious, called his wife, who brought out two bags of puppy food, and Luna hopped in the shoeing truck. Neither of us knew the bond that was being created.”
Luna has been with Miller at nearly every barn for the last 7 years. In this video, Miller gives us some insight into his business as well as Luna’s personality and day-to-day antics.
The 2026 Farrier Dog of the Year contest was made possible with the support of Hemp for Horses and Hounds.

Hemp for Horses and Hounds! Doesn't just about everyone who has a horse have a dog? We worked on perfecting Hemp for Horses pellets for years, but have always made products for dogs. We make everything right here on the farm. No middleman ever! We are not selling anything that we have not given to our own animals that we love. We handle everything from "Farm to Stable" and "Soil to Oil"!
Fun fact: We made our dog Macey (who was hit on the road years ago) CBD treats before we even made our first batch of horse pellets! From arthritis to calming, everything CBD does for horses, it can do for your dog.
