Georgia farrier Dewey Lee Campbell passed away November 19, 2025. He was 59.
After graduating high school, Campbell entered the rodeo circuit in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina for several years. During this time, he discovered his passion for hoof care and graduated from Oklahoma Horseshoeing School. He spent the next 38 years as a farrier.
"He became well known in the horse community for his expertise, integrity, sharp wit and compassion that often saw him become an extended family member or many of his clients," notes his obituary.
Campbell was also an active member of Back Country Horsemen of North Georgia, certified in chainsaw and crosscut saw and helped the Forest Service in search and rescue efforts, delivering supplies and maintaining trails. He was an outdoorsman and a samaritan at heart.
A celebration of life will be held in January 2026 at his barn with additional information to be announced. Contact deweymemorial9@gmail.com for details. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Georgia Cumberland Academy Alumni.
