Greg Martin

Some 12 years ago, Greg Martin took me on as his first apprentice. I hadn’t been to horseshoeing school, though I was no stranger to hard work or horses. He took me on one trial day and then part time for a week. The next week I was full-time, and half the clients he took me to see on my first day already knew me from the local feed store.

He spent the next 5 years training me as his apprentice. Then I became his associate as he slowly started passing some of his long-standing clients to me as my business grew. Another 5 years is kind of like a multi-farrier business before we parted completely. I feel he should be recognized for his near 30 years of shoeing and the success of training 2 full-time successors of the trade.
