Twenty-seven years ago, American Farriers Journal launched Farriers Week so the equine industry could recognize farriers’ dedicated commitment to hoof care. From this humble beginning, it has grown into an annual tradition for clients, equine businesses, family, friends and colleagues to take time to celebrate you.

The staff at American Farriers Journal knows how hard you work to provide quality hoof care for your clients and how much effort and dedication it took to get where you are today. Despite the challenges you may face each day in and outside work, you care for the horses on your books, stay on top of your education and contribute to your community.

Though we hope you’re appreciated year-round, every July we set aside one week dedicated to honoring your work. People from around the world submit tributes honoring their farrier, colleague or loved one. Each tribute is proudly displayed in our online compilation starting July 6, 2025.

Here are a few tributes from previous years:

“As I continue to work and learn, I can’t help but give a nod to where I was able to build my foundation. Thank you is not enough, but that’s all I have to give,” says Afton, Wyo., farrier Clint Jeppson about his mentor Riley Mickelsen of Idaho Horseshoeing School.

Emily Rowe of La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, had this to say about her farrier Pavel Javier Lara Corrales.

"He goes out of his way to help others advance. He keeps reading, studying, dissecting, forging, taking slow-motion footage, going to clinics and generously sharing everything he learns with anyone hungry for knowledge.

“When a colleague is injured, he is the first to send financial help or even travel to help personally without seeking to be reimbursed. He goes back to the drawing board as many times as it takes to find a solution when treating pathologies and injuries. Until the horse can walk off more comfortably, he will keep experimenting. You will never hear a negative word come from him. He is not only an excellent farrier but an exceptional human being.”

As a farrier, chances are there was someone who helped you find your footing in the industry, a mentor who changed your life or a friend who got you through hard times. Now is a great time to honor that person.
