The International Association of Professional Farriers announced that its executive director has resigned.

Richard Mongeau will be leaving the IAPF on Sept. 26, 2022, to become the director of Special Projects and Innovation at Cheval Québec, which is also known as the Québec Equestrian Federation.

“I would like to thank the board of directors for offering me the opportunity to join the IAPF, as well as for their support and trust since my arrival,” according to a statement attributed to Mongeau. “I remain impressed by the dedication and contribution of all directors toward the betterment of the association in serving the members. My departure is above all linked to an opportunity that fits perfectly from a personal and family perspective.”

A search for Mongeau’s replacement is underway. IAPF members can suggest candidates by emailing Dr. Frank Reilly, IAPF president, at equimedsurg@aol.com or calling (610) 241-4773.

“Although we are sad to see Richard leaving, we understand and respect his decision,” according to a statement attributed to Reilly. “We appreciate and thank him for his expertise and wish him success.”
