Oklahoma and Texas farrier Vernon Shorter passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021. He was 90.

Shorter grew up in the Mannsville and Ardmore, Okla., area. He lived in Mineral Wells, Texas, the past 15 years. Over the years, Shorter had roofed houses and was a cross country truck driver. His true love were horses. He was a arrier, raised, raced and trained Thoroughbred horses. He was a member of the Cowboy Church of Mineral Wells.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2118 S. Commerce St., Ardmore, OK 73401. Interment will follow at Mannsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
