Grand Junction, Colo., farrier Don Jones passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 82.
After graduating shoeing school at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, he established Jones Horseshoeing and earned a reputation as an excellent farrier who specialized in therapeutic horseshoeing. His reputation grew as clients would bring horses from all over Colorado and the surrounding states. Not long after starting the shoeing business, Jones and his wife Cheryl started training horses. Jones Horseshoeing and Training became a family business with their son Robby and daughter Teri joining the team. In recognition for his contribution to the horse industry, Jones was inducted into the Colorado Plateau Horseman’s Hall of Fame.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 at Canyon View Vineyard Church, 736 24 1/2 Rd., Grand Junction, Colo.
