Finger Lakes Custom Manufacturing is moving its long-time base of operations to the Sunshine State.
Originally from Moravia, N.Y., owner Neal Purdy is relocating the company to Ocala, Fla., to expand his customer base, find new business opportunities and take advantage of business-friendly tax laws.
As part of the move, Purdy announced the addition of International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame member Danvers Child as his national sales representative.
As a regular exhibitor at the International Hoof-Care Summit Trade Show, Purdy has cemented a reputation for demonstrating his creativity with eye-catching farrier rigs. Last year, he designed a custom motorcycle trailer farrier rig. The motorcycle was a black-and-chrome Harley-Davidson tailed by the inventive trailer. Hydraulics lift the full-service workstation — complete with propane forge, anvil, two grinders, drill press, band saw, shoe rack and more — from a protective box. The previous year, Purdy re-envisioned an Amish horse-drawn buggy into a functional farrier rig.
Here are some close-up images of the motorcycle trailer rig.
