The Chaparral Veterinary Clinic in Cave Creek, Ariz., will host a Composite Shoeing Contest on Dec. 11-12, 2021.

The overall top written and practical exam score will win a belt buckle. The jackpot prize money will be split 50% for the winner, 30% for the runner up and 20% for third place.* The results will be based on 50% grading by the judge and 50% by the other competitors.

Spend Saturday learning or refining your plastic welding skills, shaping the metal insert, nailing and glue technique. Put it to the test with a written and practical exam on Sunday. This will cover shoeing for specific lameness in either a nail or glue entry.

Times for the Sunday contest will be assigned. Glue and nail supplies will be provided. Packets will be emailed to entrants before the workshop. The cost is $190. For information, please call (406) 930-0357.
