The American and International Associations of Professional Farriers (AAPF/IAPF) selected two winners of the inaugural Frank Gravlee Scholarship to attend the International Hoof-Care Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Daniel Bastian, DVM, of Hesperia, Calif., and Summer R. Pepper of Yorba Linda, Calif., received this year’s scholarships.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be a veterinary student or have graduated in the past 2 years from a North American equine veterinarian college or university. Applicants submitted essays detailing, “Why I Would Like to be a Recipient of the 2018 Frank Gravlee Scholarship,” including:

  • What they hope to receive by attending the International Hoof-Care Summit, including the impact it would have on their veterinary practice.
  • Additional information describing their education and experience thus far in their lives/careers.

Scholarship recipients will have their expenses paid to attend the Summit, including registration, transportation and lodging.

Dr. Frank Reilly of West Chester, Pa., funded the scholarship to recognize the contribution and commitment to the farrier industry of Dr. Frank Gravlee, founder of Life Data Labs.
