Some of the most valuable learning experiences at the International Hoof-Care Summit are found outside the lecture halls

With the opportunity to attend eight general sessions, 17 classrooms and 24 how-to clinics, the International Hoof-Care Summit has plenty of structured learning sessions. However, many past attendees have told us that they find the more informal sessions have a tremendous impact on their hoof-care education.

Hoof-Care Roundtables

Each year, the roundtables deliver problem solving at its best. Farriers gather in individual rooms, where a moderator directs the discussion. A topic is presented and all who care to participate can share their questions or answers. Or if you don’t want to actively contribute, sit back and listen to these lively peer-to-peer discussions. 

“The interactive nature of the roundtables offers a different approach to learning than your classic lectures or classrooms,” says Webster, N.Y., farrier Esco Buff. “They give attendees the opportunity to have a dialogue and gain insight into a subject beyond the typical lecture or classroom.

“The goal of each roundtable is for attendees to find solutions, support and hear what others are experiencing in specific areas of interest. These roundtables have also provided others and myself with several professional relationships to develop with peers due to the more relaxed environment.”

Hallway Meetings

Although the IHCS packs dozens of  hours of classroom learning into 4 days, there is still leisure time. These periods allow another chance to interact and share ideas with your peers.
