In this article I will address record keeping and the important role modern technology can play in it.

We all know that modern technology has moved forward in leaps and bounds in recent years. We now have the iPad, smartphones, netbooks and so on.

Before we examine these different types of media, we should examine exactly what we are looking to record. Are we just going to record our clients’ contact details and our scheduling requirements or do we want more?

If we are running a business, surely we need more comprehensive records. For example, the IRS will need to know our financial transactions. Maybe a client is disputing payment or claiming we have injured a horse. What about our books for the accountant at the end of the year? All of these are important areas to address.

All the latest technology has its place, but not every product is best suited for the purposes we are trying to use it for.

Farriers are busy people and finding time to keep records up to date is difficult. Therefore, you need technology that is easy and quick to use. So let’s have a look at the main advantages and disadvantages of the devices on the market today.
