After winning five races in 2025, Sovereignty was named the 2025 Horse of the Year and Champion 3-Year-Old Male at the 55th annual Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards.

Sovereignty, which is owned by Godolphin, trained by Bill Mott and shod by Kentucky farrier JT Bayes, received 201 votes from a possible 2020 first-place votes to take home the honor.

The 3-year-old, which is shod in Kerckhaert Tradition racing plates from Farrier Product Distribution (pictured below), was ridden to the winner circle by Junior Alvarado in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park, the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, the Belmont Stakes, the Jim Dandy Stakes and the Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.

Journalism, which denied Sovereignty the Triple Crown by winning the Preakness Stakes, was a finalist for both Champion 3-Year-Old-Male and Horse of the Year. Journalism is shod by Kentucky farriers Steve Norman and Conor Quish with Kerckhaert Traditions from FPD, as well.
