Farrier Product Distribution (FPD) is changing hands for the first time in its existence.

The Vogelwaarde, Netherlands-based Royal Kerckhaert Horseshoe Factory took ownership Jan. 1, 2026.

“Going forward, FPD and Kerckhaert will continue to focus on maintaining their position as the industry leader in service, support and quality products for our valued dealers and the hoof-care professionals you serve,” according to a letter from Kerckhaert and FPD to suppliers. “FPD will continue servicing our dealer network from our facility located in Shelbyville, Ky. Fred Ruddy will oversee operations in his role as general manager and Ed Szymanski continues in his responsibilities as sales manager for the FPD and Diamond divisions.

Dan Burke and Linda Hill founded FPD in 1990 and built it into the largest wholesale-only distributor of farrier products in the U.S. and Canada.

Since 1991, Kerckhaert has been an integral part, and driving force, in FPD’s growth and ability to serve the farrier market with high-quality products — covering a wide spectrum of items necessary in the trade,” according to the letter. “The Kerckhaert House of Brands distributed by FPD now includes Kerckhaert Horseshoes, Liberty Nails, Diamond, Vettec, Hoofjack and most recently, Save Edge.
