Florida farrier Harold "Garth" Bodkin Jr. passed away September 12, 2025, after a battle with heart disease. He was 79.

Bodkin was a Vietnam veteran and horseshoer. In his 45 years as a farrier, he mentored many young people and was well-known and respected on the East coast for shoeing show and dressage horses. He spent the last several years breeding and training race horses. A celebration of life is being held on November 15, 2025, at the Littleton, Mass., VFW Hall.

Bodkin is survived by his wife Kerry, his siblins, children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.
