The British Farriers and Blacksmiths Association’s (BFBA) 44th annual International Team Horseshoeing Championship at Stoneleigh concluded on September 27, 2025, alongside BFBA Focus.
“In an extraordinarily tough weekend of competition — against some of the top farriers from 13 countries around the world — our Teams once again made us so proud!” says Martha Jones, executive director of the American Farrier’s Association in its newsletter.
The 2025 American Farriers Team (AFT) consists of team manager Travis Smith, Adam Fahr, Bryan Osborne, Sawyer Spradling, David Reed and alternate Garrett Stark. The apprentice team includes team manager Travis Smith, Jose Berumen, Eli Gingerich, Jaycie Steger and Aaron Warner.
The AFT finished first in gas forging and fifth overall with a score of 386.20. Garrett Stark finished third in the reserve class and the apprentice team finished second overall with a score of 34.80. Judges included Welsh farrier Billy Crothers and Canadian farrier Justin Fountain. The apprentice judge was Norwegian farrier Aksel Vibe.
England took home first place overall with a score of 404.30, followed by Scotland at 394.20, Ireland at 390.80 and Canada at 387.50. The English apprentice team also took home first place overall with a score of 35.10.
The top five individual scores include English competitor Matt Randles with a score of 102.40, Scottish competitor Grant Watt with 101.30, Irish competitor Paul Robinson with 100.90, English competitor Steven Beane with 100.80 and English competitor George Rogerson with 100.70.
The top five individual apprentice scores include English apprentice Freddie Ravenscroft with a score of 9.20, Scottish apprentice Ben McCredie with 9.20, English apprentice Rhys Cantrill with 9.20, American apprentice Jaycie Steger with 9.00 and French apprentice Ryan Fleury with 9.00.
