Plymouth, Calif.-based Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School is seeking an experienced, qualified farrier for the position of manager of the school.

Duties include:

  • The day-to-day management of horseshoeing students and instructors.
  • Must be upbeat and enthusiastic about the horseshoeing profession.
  • Instructions to students at the entry level of horseshoeing.
  • Demonstrations of proper body position under a horse, front and hind and at the forge.
  • Demonstrations and teaching of foot trimming, shoe making and the nailing on of shoes.
  • Driving, supervising and teaching students on field trips to shoe and/or trim.
  • Must be willing to schedule horses, in advance, for shoeing at the school or for field trips.
  • Must show competency on the forge with the ability to give brief, concise demonstrations for students on basic handmade and/or keg shoe modification.
  • No financial responsibilities as those are handled by the owner.

Parameters for Manager

  • References required.
  • Must NOT have their own horseshoeing agenda but teach within the framework of existing curriculum.
  • Apartment available at the school.
  • Must be a non-smoker
  • Must be a non-drinker or very light drinker.
  • Must be able to professionally interact with male and female students of all ages.
  • Must be willing and able to leave cell phone alone while teaching for the day.
  • Must have a clean driving record with the ability to pull, backup and park trailers.
  • Must be receptive to regular conversations about the direction and improvement of the school as directed by owner.

Salary will depend upon living arrangements, experience and skill sets.
