Island Lake, Ill., farrier Arthur Timmerman passed away Feb. 10, 2021, after bouts with multiple health problems. He was 86.

After graduating from high school in 1953 in Wauconda, Ill., Timmermann attended Michigan State University, where he earned his horseshoeing degree. He was well-known for corrective horseshoeing over his 35-year career. Timmermann and his wife Carol launched Timmermann’s Ranch & Saddle Shop in 1956 in Island Lake, Ill. They built a successful business providing riding lessons, training, boarding and selling horses. He was a life-time member of the Hooved Animal Humane Society, president of the Teamsters Union Horse Chores Division for 3 years and a proud member of the National Rifle Association.

A celebration of life will be from 2 to 8 p.m. March 6, 2021, at Timmermann’s Ranch, 29550 W. Roberts Rd., Island Lake, Ill. The service will be in the indoor arena with sand footing. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his honor.
