The 2021 World Horseshoeing Classic scheduled for March 4-6 is the latest farrier event to fall victim to COVID-19 cancellations. The announcement was made Jan. 4, on the World Horseshoeing Classic Facebook page.
“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of the 2021 World Horseshoeing Classic,” the post notes. “We had hoped that by the New Year, the COVID-19 situation worldwide would allow us to safely proceed with this event.”
The post goes on to state that the increase of COVID-19 cases, along with additional restrictions on travel and facility capacities, were what ultimately led to the decision.
The World Horseshoeing Classic is an international four-person team horseshoeing competition sponsored by the Kentucky Horseshoeing School in Richmond, Ky., and the World Championship Blacksmiths. Entry fees will be refunded through the method of original payment.
“We are eager to start plans for 2022, and hope that each of you can adjust your plans to meet us there,” the post concludes. “Here is to a healthier 2021!
