Cascadia Equine Veterinary Clinic is hosting a Podiatry Symposium on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7. On Friday, Christopher Wickliffe, DVM, of Cascadia Equine will be focusing on lameness, radiographs and medical terminology. On Saturday, Larkin Greene, of Farrier Product Distribution will be presenting on adhesives used in the farrier industry and will review the gluing of steel and aluminum shoes in comparison to synthetic shoes. The opportunity for hands-on practice will follow the presentation. The event is open to all farriers and veterinarians as well as students. Pre-registration is $100 and registration after April 29 is $150. Registration is free for all farrier and veterinary students. The symposium has been approved for 14 IAPF continuing education credits. Christopher Wickliffe, DVM, earned Bachelor of Science degrees from Oregon State University in economics and Colorado State University in equine science. During this time, Dr. Wickliffe had the opportunity to become the first student of the Colorado State University Farrier Program and went on to be a teacher’s assistant in that program. This led to the development of a successful farrier business. Dr. Wickliffe completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 2002. After earning his DVM, Dr. Wickliffe worked in three large surgical equine veterinary hospitals with the ultimate goal of owning an equine focused veterinary practice. In the fall of 2007, Dr. Wickliffe opened Cascadia Equine Veterinary Clinic, an ambulatory equine veterinary clinic based in Corvallis, OR. The Tangent clinic was opened in March of 2021. Larkin Greene earned a bachelor's degree in education from California State University, Sacramento. He has worked with adhesives for over 32 years across several industries, including construction, automotive, medical/dental and equine. He has been in the equine industry for the last 22 years and was one of the pioneer members of Vettec Hoof Care Products. Larkin currently works for Farrier Product Distribution (FPD) out of Shelbyville, Kentucky. Register for the event here.
