The World Championship Blacksmiths (WCB) rolled into Dillon, Mont., Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, and so did 42 competitors from all over the United States, plus a handful of other countries.

Dr. Hannah Galantino-Homer has been appointed senior research investigator of the newly created laminitis research initiative at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She will serve as a leading investigator in Penn Vet’s laminitis research efforts.

Farriers Dan Yorke, Jim Nelson and Todd Gorton have all long thought it’s important for farriers to improve their forging skills. Last fall, the three friends from New York decided to do something about it.

Jeff Ridley made at least 47 new friends in Brazil recently.The farrier from Leighton, Iowa, made a trip to the South American nation to conduct a clinic for horseshoers in conjunction with Fabio Furquim, a Brazilian veterinarian.
