Expand Your Forging Skills By Mail

As part of this year's mail-in forging exercise, you'll receive a personalized analysis of your forging skills without even leaving home

If you want to know the many benefits of being part of this year's mail-in forging exercise, nobody can explain it better than shoers who've been a part of this remarkable event over the past 6 years. Being held for the seventh time, this educational event is co-sponsored by the Calgary Stampede’s World Championship Blacksmiths’ Competition and American Farriers Journal.

By forging a toe cap shoe in your shop and having it arrive in Calgary before June 15, you’ll learn how your forging skills and techniques measure up with farriers from around the world. Most importantly, you’ll receive a personalized written evaluation on your shoe from this year’s Calgary shoeing competition judges, Jim Ferrie of Newmilns, Scotland, and Richard Becker of Lapeer, Mich.

Just for testing your skills in this year’s mail-in forging exercise, you’ll have four educational materials mailed to your door in late summer. Additional products and services will be split between the 25 participants from around the world who end up with the highest forging scores. A complete list of farrier products and services from industry leaders is shown in the accompanying boxes.
