Making The Rocker Bar Shoe

THE ROCKER BAR SHOE is one of 12 shoes involved in the Mustad Specialty Forging contest at the 2000 Ameican Farrier's Association convention in Ontario, Calif., next February 22 to 25.

The rocker bar shoe is made from 15- by 3/4- by 3/8-inch stock. it is fullered with 6 (size MX60) nail holes.

The following are step-by-step instructions on making the rocker bar shoe.

This shoe is quite a challenge. First, your measurement markings are very important. Both ends of your bar stock will have to be bumped up at exactly the same place, making sure the peak of the rocker (thicket point) falls at the widest portion of the finshed shoe. This should also correlate with the placement of the heel nails.
