The Odeon Theater’s owners celebrated the theater’s grand opening last week with a free public screening of “Bless Me Ultima” and received recognition for restoring the old theater and keeping it in business.

On Tuesday, civic leaders gathered in the theater for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, using the Chamber of Commerce’s ribbon cutting shears built by local world champion farrier Jim Keith. Tucumcari Main Street’s chairman David Hale then presented the owners, Robert Lopez and Christyne Dominguez with a plaque recognizing their efforts in restoring the theater.

The guests then viewed “Bless Me Ultima,”  projected onto to new screen from a new projector, and with sound from 14 speakers separated into seven channels, according to Dominguez.
