Michael Garcia

I met my farrier through a very good trainer and friend, Christi. At the time, in 2010, I was seeking Christi’s help with my 2-year-old gelding, Statler. I had not looked for a farrier. Call it fate or coincidence, Christi was, at that time, dating Michael Garcia. I purchased my horse with almost no knowledge about keeping, training or caring for a horse. Somehow, Statler has survived in spite of all I do not know.

Michael started coming to trim my horse about every six weeks. Along with the excellent farrier service he has provided, Michael has been a wealth of information for me. Every time he comes for an appointment, he talks “horse talk” while he works. I have learned a lot from Michael. Recently, he gave me advice to have my horse checked by a vet when the horse would not stand still for trimming. Knowing that was totally out of character for Statler, Michael suggested I give the vet a call. Sure enough, my horse was sore from a presumed kick from his pasture mate. The vet gave him some meds, advised me to keep him separated from his pasture buddy for a couple of weeks. Without Michael’s keen eye and sense of what is normal for my horse, I would not have known to call my vet.

Always on time, never, ever late, Michael keeps my horses on his rotating list. I never have to call him. I do not have to keep up with how many weeks it has been. I get a text message a few days before he is coming to my area, he sets up the appointment and then shows up to get the job done, faithfully. I really appreciate Michael.
