Mark Franks
For the 15th Annual National Farriers Week, I would like to salute my friend and Brotherhood of Working Farrier Association (BWFA) certified farrier, Mark Franks. Mark Franks is committed to expanding his farrier skills, continually seeks new education experiences, is a role model for excellent working relationships between farrier and veterinarian, and is dedicated to the farrier industry. Using his farrier skills, Mark Franks strives to provide the highest level of foot care possible to improve quality of life for horses and their owners. Simply put, Mark makes horses better.
Mark Franks religiously reads the American Farriers Journal, attends the yearly International Hoof-Care Summit, studies with farrier clinician Blake Brown of Delta Mustad Hoofcare, Hoof Sense, and collaborates with Dr. Michael Frederick, DVM, Miamitown Pet Hospital caring for horses with foot and lameness problems during scheduled farrier/veterinarian clinic days. As a new farrier, Mark Franks was mentored by Master Farrier and 2003 International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame Farrier, Bob Peacock, and spent time learning with Dr. Raul J. Bras, DVM, CJF, Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, Podiatry Center. Committed to keeping excellence farrier work available to horsemen in the Greater Cincinnati area, Mark is currently mentoring a new farrier; his oldest son Jesse Franks.
