Dean Moshier (Columbus, Ohio)

I would like to recognize Dean Moshier for being not only an awesome farrier but an wonderful friend. When I first met Dean, I was in a pickle. My blacksmith had just moved out of state and the person who took over the business was lacking in experience. My horse had foundered and required a skilled farrier. I searched the internet and found Dean's name. I called him and he was able to come right out. He quickly put my concerns to rest and went to work. He has the patience of a saint when it comes to working on horses that are in pain and geriatric. He went above and beyond in trying to find the latest information on shoeing laminitic horses at a time when there just wasn't that much knowledge out there. In the 10-plus years that he had shod my horses, I never worred about their feet. If something was brewing, he was the first person I called. If the horses needed something different in their feet care, he spoke right up and we hashed out a treatment plan. When life changed and I moved 3-plus hours away, Dean recommended a farrier in my area that he knew would be able to shoe them successfully. It has been 7 years since I have moved and still to this day when a horse pulls a shoe or is lame Dean is still the first person I want to call. His drive for continuing his education is what sets him apart from all other farriers.
