Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital will be hosting the International Podiatry Conference in Lexington, Ky. The educational seminar is for veterinarians and farriers, aimed at creating a collaboration between the two professionals while also increasing and sharing their knowledge of biomechanics, laminitis and new innovations within equine podiatry.
“We wanted to create a conference that incorporated both veterinarians and farrier in a collaborative environment that will inspire all who attend,” says Scott Morrison, founder of the Rood & Riddle Podiatry Center.
The conference, which will take place April 12 to 13 at the Lexington campus on Georgetown Road, will feature lectures and demonstrations, presented by some of the equine industry’s most notable members. Guest speakers include Maarten Oosterlinck of Ghent University, Department of Surgery and Anesthesiology Belgium, who will be joined by Haydn Price, consultant Farrier to the British Equestrian Federation and World Class Equestrian Programme, and Dr. Ric Redden of the International Equine Podiatry Center, Versailles, Ky.
Rood & Riddle podiatrists Morrison and Raul Bras, International Equine Veterinarian Hall of Fame inductee, will also be giving lectures over the 2-day course. Rood & Riddle farriers Stuart Muir and Sam Zalesky will provide performance horse shoeing technique demonstrations.
“We hope this will be an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from new techniques, meet each other and facilitate future collaborations for everyone,” says Bras.
