My first big break was at a training barn nearby. The trainer herself, who is a lovely talented lady, NEVER took part in any of my work, not for her own horses or any others. After 11 years, I finally asked her to join me when I put the first shoes on her upcoming filly. She replied to my phone message with an ultimatum! I could have responded better, but I was so furious at what I took to be an insult, I broke it off with her. I nearly left the barn, which would have been a huge chunk of income for me, but stayed on instead.
