Conny SvenssonI have had the pleasure of working with Conny for almost 2 years now. Before that I have to be honest, I didn’t pay much attention to what my farrier did, let alone understand anything beyond the quarter horse. 

Since getting involved with Razerhorse and being able to work along side Conny, I’ve not only got a completely different understanding of what my farrier does, but also a crash course into the Standardbred racing industry. 

I am blown away everyday at the talent that Conny has to do what is does. He has a passion for his industry that you don’t see everyday and you see it in the first few seconds of talking with him. Take his passion and put it with his exceptional knowledge of the Standardbred hoof and it’s a winning combination. Whenever I mention his name to people in the Standardbred world from the US, to Canada to Europe the reaction is always the same that he is the top of his field. Conny Svensson started shoeing/apprenticing in 1982. Originally from Sweden, he graduated from farrier school in 1986 and was also an instructor for 1 semester.

Conny’s background is in shoeing Standardbred racehorses and has been shoeing in the United States since 1991.

Conny has shod some of the most notable horses in the Standardbred racing industry over his 32 years and has shoes on display in the Standardbred Hall of Fame Museum in Goshen, NY.

Most notable would be Moni Maker, 2X “Horse of the Year” and “Horse of the Century” by United States Trotting Association. Moni Maker is the winner of the two biggest races in Europe, the Elitlopp in Stockholm Sweden and the Prix d’Amerique in Paris France as well as all the major races in North America. This has brought her to earnings of $5.5 Million, making her the richest Standardbred and richest female racehorse of any breed at the time. 

“Moni Maker is by far the greatest horse I have shoed,” says Conny. “During her career she had 8 flights across the Atlantic and has been the winner of the biggest races wherever she went.”

Conny shod Moni Maker in 7 different countries and more recently has shod the top 3 ranked 3-year old trotters in the country, “Father Patrick, Nuncio and Trixton.”

Conny SvenssonConny Svensson is one of the most respected farriers in the Standardbred industry, as well as being the lead technical advisor for Razerhorse, maker of the Razerhorse shoes and Propads. Conny was instrumental in the development and testing of the Razer flexible steel horseshoe and the Propad in the standardbred racing industry. The Razer shoe and Propad continue to show beneficial on some of the top horses of the industry.

When Conny isn’t shoeing the top horses in the Standardbred racing industry, he is sitting back, listening to a CD of songs his wife created specifically for him and his friends called Blacksmith Blues.
