Stephen Coffey
I need to write in to commend and praise the incredible Mr. Stephen Coffey. He travels all around Eastern and Central Missouri and beyond to do exceptional work. I can’t say enough about his professional manner, boundless equine knowledge and cutting edge techniques. He saved our 22-year-old Foxtrotter!
He isn’t just a farrier or horseshoer, he is a friend, a hero, a mentor to the kids at various barns, a horseman and to us in Central Missouri, Stephen Coffey is an angel.
He sees our old guy every 6 weeks and he has transformed a horse that was on his last leg (literally) to a happy guy who trots and foxtrots about with his pasture mates. He is sound enough for small children to ride at a walk, and even other farriers said that wouldn’t happen. Stephen amazed the veterinarian from University of Missouri. Our horse now walks without a limp!
Enclosed are the pics of Stephen working on Rocky when we got him foundered, and a before and after of Rocky pre-Cushings medicine and farrier, and after 4 weeks. I am always going to be his client.

My name is Sara Allin and I'm a farrier in Hillsboro, Mo. I'd like to acknowledge farrier Stephen Coffey. Steven's dedication to continuing education and trying new methods for the best interest of the horse brought us together as a team earlier this year. He asked me to consult on a case where a horse had lost a large portion of hoof wall due to an abscess. I specialize in composite materials, including glue-on shoes, and we both felt this would be a great opportunity to try something new to help his client. Forging relationships with other farriers (pun intended) is beneficial to all parties. We both learned quite a lot through the experience, and the best part is we had the horse back to work, feeling happy, healthy and sound! I applaud his willingness to reach out to other farriers to exchange ideas and explore new methods. I look forward to working with him again!
